I Have A Tribe

It was not the first time for Patrick O’Laoghaire of I Have A Tribe to perform in Berlin when we met him. The Irish artist loves this city and always enjoys coming back, whether it’s for work or just for a good time with his friends.

O’Laoghaire has had the idea of starting his one-man band for a pretty long time but he only took action towards it when he got the courage after touring with the Irish band Slow Skies. And we are more than glad he did after all!

It has been a very exciting journey for I Have A Tribe ever since he started. After recording his debut EP with Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey / Anna Calvi / Ute Lemper) and Villagers’ Conor O’Brien, he started touring Europe with Anna Calvi and performed among others at Electric Picnic and CMJ in New York. His last gig in Berlin was on 15th April 2015 at FluxBau for the ‘FluxFM sessions’ with Broncho.

We took the nature lover from Dublin to the woods of Plänterwald for a sunny early bird session the day after his show, which was a great choice for this session, at least according to the way Patrick was acting. The moment he arrived on set he was instantly fascinated with the beauty of the setting: singing birds, old trees and the forest’s flora waking up from its long winter sleep. He let the sounds of nature inspire him and even used the birds’ sounds in one of the songs. I Have A Tribe’s calming and emotional voice takes you to a world of his own phantasies.
