Local Natives

Just before they ran on stage to open up MELT! we luckily grabbed a moment with Los Angeles raised, Local Natives.  Amongst their busy tour schedule, they made the right choice in visiting MELT! Festival, and perfectly set the scene on the main-stage for a brilliant weekend ahead.

Local Natives, have spent the summer releasing their contained energy which mounted during the recording and production of their second LP release ‘Hummingbird.’ Guitarist, Taylor Rice, has said that it was time for them to be free, and enjoy playing and anticipating the crowds perception of their new record. Doing an entire European tour, which started in January, they continue to relish the festival season, snapping every slot that they can.

Roasting away on the bank of the lake, they played acoustic sessions of their successful single releases; ‘Breakers,’ and ‘Heavy Feet.’ Despite the heat, the Native’s remained as professional as ever, with the one exception of struggling to put words together in their introduction. Despite this, they were as ever, flawless.

Continuing their relentless tour schedule, Taylor, Kelcey, Ryan, Matt and touring bassist Nik continue to surge through the festival season and flaunt their rhythmic expertise.
