Michaela Lucas

Her music is shaped by her classical voice and simply the passion for creating her own music. Michaela Lucas was born in Adelaide and grew up in Coober Pedy, a little city with only 1.500 inhabitants in the south of Australia. At the age of 12 she started to write her first songs and hasn’t stopped since. After the experience of working as a trained classical singer in musical theatre, opera and cabaret, in Australia and Europe, she focused on her performances as a singer and songwriter.

Being compared to other Indie Folk singers Michaela still has a very distinguished style. Maybe it is the Australian background, the hint of her classical roots in the songs or the sincere and hearty lyrics – probably all of the above and more – that defines her and her music.

For Berlin Sessions she performed her song “My heart dropped to the floor” on a sunny day at Treptower Park or to be more precisely on the island of youth (“Insel der Jugend”) that belongs to the park. It is a great location in the east south of Berlin. Especially in the summer it is crowded with (young) people who gather around. They are jamming and dancing together or simply enjoy the sun being surrounded by the Spree.
